Swoon is partnered with a world leading manufacturer of advanced technology and optical connectivity solutions, and we're excited to add a Manufacturing Engineer to the expanding team. Location: On-site in Akron, Pennsylvania

Salary: $70K-$75K

Position Summary: This role is on the RF side of the business. The Manufacturing engineer drives manufacturing improvements focused on cost reduction, quality enhancement, and operational efficiency. Working cross-functionally, the specialist leads troubleshooting efforts, supports engineering initiatives, and ensures consistent documentation and reporting of improvement activities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as the primary contact for resolving manufacturing issues, using expertise in machining, materials, and engineering practices.
• Coordinate with floor personnel, supervisors, and engineers to minimize production downtime.
• Build and test RF cables, PCB assemblies, prototypes, and demo units.
• Develop and maintain RF test equipment and procedures (e.g., Network Analyzers, Intermodulation Testers).
• Analyze test failures and support root cause analysis with Process Engineering, Quality, and Production teams.
• Create and maintain documentation including process instructions, technical notes, and reports.
• Assist with tooling trials and evaluate requests from production.
• Foster collaboration across departments and lead continuous improvement efforts aligned with company culture.

Qualifications:

• Associate degree in Engineering, Math, or Statistics required; Bachelor’s preferred.
• Understands Electrical Engineering.
• Experience in manufacturing process improvement.
• Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred.
• Proficient in using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, multimeters).
• Skilled in hand soldering and working with small electronic components.
• Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, and electrical testing equipment (oscilloscopes, analyzers) preferred.
• Experience with Network Analyzers (VNAs) preferred.
• RF or cable/connectors industry experience preferred.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and root cause analysis skills.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and work independently or as part of a team.
• Must be detail-oriented, adaptable, and able to handle multiple priorities.
• Proficient in English communication and comprehension; must pass color vision test (Ishihara).
